Septic Tank Servicing

The team at OVTS are experienced in cleaning all types and sizes of septic tanks and septic holding tanks. Our vacuum trucks range in sizes of 3,500Lt to 12,000Lt and are equipped with extra lengths of hose to ensure we can reach septic tanks in difficult or tight locations.

Septic tanks can be emptied via the lid to the tank or the mushroom (access point to the sewer line). Our operators have wide range of experience and knowledge to assist you with any questions you may have about your septic tank system.

A healthy septic tank is regularly cleaned every 3 to 5 years. The frequency of the cleaning cycle of your septic tank depends on a few different factors including the size and capacity of your tank, type of septic tank system and how many people live on the property and are using the septic tank.

We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for all septic tank emergencies and queries.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you have no lid exposed, we are able to remove as much septic waste from the tank via the mushroom (or white vent pipe coming out of the ground). We are not able to empty the tank fully from this pipe but we can take as much as we can.

Finding and exposing your lid is always best practice when it comes to septic tank cleaning to avoid future problems with blockages or pump issues.

If you have never known where your tank lid is, best start is to contact the Dunedin City Council and ask them for a map of where the tank is as one would have been done for the consent of the tank to be installed.

The frequency of septic tank cleaning depends on a few different factors such as the amount of people living at the property, what is going into the septic tank and the size of your septic tank. After our experienced operators empty your septic tank we are able to advise you on a clean frequency and keep you on a regular septic tank cleaning cycle.

It is always important to remember that no diapers, wipes or sanitary products be flushed down toilets or put into your septic tank as these will cause blockages and pump issues

When booking in your septic tank for a clean we ask the below questions so we can ensure our drivers arrive onsite with all information needed to provide a quick and efficient service such as:

  • When was your septic tank last emptied
  • Is the lid exposed to your septic tank
  • How much hose will we need to reach your septic tank from where our truck can park
  • Access wise to your property are there any overhanging trees or tight gates and driveways that may be better suited to a smaller truck
  • Do you know how big your septic tank is
  • Are there any screws or bolts that need to be taken out to remove the lid prior to cleaning

No problem. Our experienced staff along with our in house plumber will happily have a look over your system and answer any questions they can while onsite. If there are issues we are not able to help you with we will be able to put you in contact with a local business who will be able to assist.

Yes. We supply and install HiLo tank sensors which connect to an app on your mobile phone and alert you when tanks reach a certain level. If you would like more information on these let us know.

After emptying your septic tank it is transported to and disposed of at an approved DCC Wastewater Treatment Plant.
